全世界都在关注中美元首今日在韩国釜山会晤。

这是特朗普再次当选总统后，中美两国元首首次会面。

会议开始前，特朗普猛夸习大大“great leader of a great country（伟大国家的伟大领袖）” ，并称习大大“He’s tough negotiator（强硬的谈判者）”。

习大大则以一番平实而坚定的陈述为会谈定调：
我们的意见并不总是一致的，作为世界上两个主要经济体，偶尔发生摩擦是正常的，你和我作为中美关系的掌舵者，应该坚持正确的方向。

习大大的随身翻译在转达这段话时，用了一个非常地道的俚语：

We do not always see eye to eye with each other, and it is normal for the two leading economies of the world to have frictions now and then … you and I at the helm of China-US relations should stay the right course.

see eye to eye最早可追溯到希伯来文，形容人们“彼此面对面、在同一视角下”看到共同的景象。17世纪传入日常英语中后，表示“（两人）意见一致”。

这不是习大大第一次在外交场合使用英语俚语。在秘鲁出席亚太经合组织工商领导人峰会时，习大大现场就亲自引用过一个英语俚语： 

“中国和秘鲁相距遥远，《英汉大词典》有一个词语，叫‘从中国到秘鲁’（from China to Peru），意思是‘走遍天下’。”
