当然不是，虽然white=白，day=天，但是white day和白天没有一毛钱关系。

记住，in black和in the black完全是两回事，差了一个the意思翻天覆地。

in black=穿黑衣服 （√）

但是，in the black≠穿黑衣服。它真正的意思是“赢利；有盈余”。

例如：

She was dressed in black.

她穿了一身黑衣。

I wish my accounts were in the black.

真希望我的账户里有钱啊。

The company is finally in the black. [=the company is profitable]

blackmail

千万不要望文生义把blackmail直接译为“黑色邮件”。

这个词起源于一个海盗部落的旧例，海盗们欺凌百姓横行乡里，他们向苏格兰的农夫们收取保护金。

如果农夫们不给，他们就偷取他们的庄稼和牲畜。Mail在古英语中有定金，保证金的意思，而black则或表示了这种做法的黑暗，或表示这种保护费是以实物如牛等进行支付的，区别于银币（也就是白色的钱=white money）。

1552年这个词第一次出现，到1826年衍生为“敲诈；勒索”的意思。

例如：

She was a victim of blackmail.

她被敲诈了。

The servant extorted blackmail from her employer.
